The cover on this is eye catching, with sunlight effects behind the title and shimmering in front of Silas, the character on the cover.

Kate is on trial following the death of the Skilled's leader whilst Edgar does his best to help Kate, being the faithful friend he is.  Silas has fled and has thus far avoided detection from the wardens and councilmen....intrigue is rife when Silas leaves Fume behind him and heads to unknown lands.

We see a different side to Silas, along with the connection he has to Kate, which effects the whole book.  Silas' crow also features and his masters connection to him is very powerful and unique.  The Blackwatch are soldiers to be feared....and Silas seems is aware of the stories surrounding them, and that the Blackwatch should be avoided.  The Blackwatch are the most threatening part of this book, along with the councilmen who pursue Kate and Edgar.

I was surprised by the lack of intervention from Artemis as Kate is detained...Edgar comes into his own in this book and reinforces his friendship with Kate.

This was another page turner for me, it's fairly fast paced and has a good share of action and unexpected scenes.  All in all, another butt kicking book with twists and turns that had me eagerly wanting to know what happened next.  I'm thoroughly looking forward to reading the next in the series, I'm eager to know what is in store next for Kate, Edgar and Silas!

Book synopsis:
A dark power rises.  A deadly journey begins.
Kate has escaped the clutches of the High Council and Silas has left Albion for the continent. But their lives are forever linked and as the veil weakens, causing Albion's skilled to fear for everyone's safety, Silas and Kate find themselves drawn together by the mysterious and corrupt Dalliah Grey.

I haven't heard of this series before, but it sounds great! Looks like it's got lots of action in it (which I love) - great review, I'll have to check this out!
