The cover on this reminds me of winter and Christmas coming - I like how the snowflakes are in a heart shape behind the couple.

This is a cosy and light hearted read.  The story line is solid, although I found it extremely predictable but because I liked the characters I didn’t mind reading on.

Nicci is the local GP whose passion is horse riding.  Her mum doesn’t seem to have let go of the past until she meets the right man, and then everything looks up for her.  Nicci hasn’t heard from her sister in a very long time, so she is surprised when she comes home to an alleged burglar to find her sister and her children waiting for her indoors.  The tension between Cheska and her mum is high. As for Mel’s medical diagnosis, I was way ahead on that score.

Matt takes advantage of the fact Nicci inadvertently brands herself as his girlfriend, and what becomes an avoidance of an ex-boyfriend leads to their relationship. Mel, Matt’s ex, is a conniving brat, but even her actions aren’t that surprising, nor was I surprised who her fling partner was.

Although the chemistry between Nicci and Matt was there on paper, I didn’t feel the sparks of chemistry between them sizzling off the page. Towards the end of the book their relationship changes in a positive way, but they don’t actually announce anything to their family, nor don’t get to meet Matt’s family and see what they think of Nicci either, although it is mentioned that Matt might take her, but then they have a period apart.  I think this is a good easy read if you’re looking for something to unwind with.

Fifi, the village gossip and hypochondriac is a fairly fun character, and probably my favourite one from the book other than the lead characters.

Book synopsis:
Love blooms again in the beautiful town of Talyton St George. Is this the most romantic place in the UK?

The cover on this tells you a lot about the storyline.  Jennie's husband leaves her for another woman, so she is forced to change her lifestyle.  She takes a leap and decides to buy a run down house in the countryside where she and her three children relocate to.

Jennie meets Guy...the man who tries to remain at a distance despite their obvious chemistry throughout the book.  Jennie has trouble adjusting but soon finds her niche within her new life.  The children cope differently, and the relationship between Jennie and her son is very raw and feels altogether very real.  Her ex-husband's manner is totally selfish and condescending - I really wanted to bop him one at points throughout the book!!

My favourite character has got to be Guy, he's wonderful!  He certainly defies the country bumpkin image that Jennie originally saw him as...he's so sweet!

Overall, this was a very easy read.  It nearly had me crying at the end - I really like the relationship that Guy and Adam form during the book.  This is a romance with gritty real life drama thrown into the mix, which made it a very convincing and enjoyable read.  I wish I could make cakes like Jennie!!
