Captivate by Carrie Jones

Title: Captivate
Authors: Carrie Jones
Publisher: Bloomsbury
Published: April 2010
ISBN: 9781 40880 7415

Rating: 4/5

The cover is an unusual one, with the don’t matching the gold tear from the characters face.

Zara is forced to make a very hard decision when she realises that the pixie problem hasn’t been resolved – if anything, it is about to get a heck of a lot worse!

My favourite character in this was Nick – so masculine and protective (yum!) which costs him in the end.  This is emotional in places as I it hard to imagine that one pixie can be different to the rest that are portrayed in the story.  Zara is no ordinary school girl in this – she has a lot to deal with.  I’m looking forward to reading more in the series now I’ve read this one….its left me on the edge of my seat!

Book synopsis:

Zara and her friends knew they hadn’t solved the pixie problem for good. Far from it. The king’s needs grow deeper every day he’s stuck in captivity, while his control over his people gets weaker. It’s made him vulnerable. And now there’s a new king in town.
A turf war is imminent, since the new pixie king, Astley, is moving in quickly. Nick nearly killed him in the woods on day one, but Zara came to his rescue. Astley swears that he and Zara are destined to be together, that he’s one of the good guys. Nick isn’t buying it, though Zara isn’t as sure — despite herself, she wants to trust the new king. But it’s a lot more than her relationship with Nick that is at stake. It’s her life — and his.

Source – Many thanks to Bloomsbury, a copy was received in return for an honest review.
