In My Mailbox #13

Hosted by The Story Siren. In My Mailbox is a meme where bloggers can share with you what they received in their mailbox/from library/bought/etc.

I received some awesome books for review, in case you are joining in with the British Books Challenge, the top two are suitable.
I'm really looking forward to reading each and every one :)

The Testament of Jessie Lamb by Jane Rogers
Women are dying in their millions. Some blame scientists, some see the hand of God, some see arrogance reaping the punishment it deserves.  Jessie Lamb is an ordinary girl living in an extraordinary time: as her world collapses, her idealism and courage drive her towards the ultimate act of heroism.  If the human race is to survive, it's up to her.

But is Jessie heroic? Or is she, as her father fears, impressionable, innocent and incapable of understanding where her actions will lead?  Set just a month or two in the future, in a world irreparably altered by an act of biological terrorism, The Testament of Jessie Lamb explores a young woman's determination to make her life count for something, as the certainties of her childhood are ripped apart.

Blood Red Roses by Lin Anderson
A hen night in Glasgow leaves the bride-to-be dead on the toilet floor.  Her body is twisted, her face a mask of terror.  who would kill a girl just before her wedding?
Dr Rhona MacLeod and her team are called in to find out.  As they go through the evidence, they find themselves in a world where sex is bought and sold, and more violent death is lying in wait.

The Long Bridge by Urszula Muskus

This is the true story of Urszula Muskus (1903-1972), introduced by her grandson, Peter Muskus.  It tells the story and memories from when Poland was invaded by Germany and onwards, and is published in association with Amnesty International.

 A Roman Rescue by K. A. Gerrard

This is an advanced review book for the eldest of the young reviewing duo - it doesn't publish til March 2011, and is in comic form inside, so he's already been drooling and reading snippets alongside his other reads ;)

It's been a bit of a bookilicous week for me this week.  I had great fun going down to London to Penguin's Media Presentation, and I swear my arms are longer now for carrying the books and goodie bag I brought back!!! I also popped into the library to return some dvds and ended up bringing more books back, much to hubby's disgust LOL!!!  I'm really looking forward to sharing the fantastic books I've got with you when I review them :)
