The cover on this is really eye catching and shimmery.  This is a story adapted from Hans Christian Anderson with it's own interpretation.

Welcome to a world where there is mermaid royalty!  The Princess is allowed to got to the surface when she comes of age....to peek out from under her home and see the ocean and those above it from within.  She yearns for more, so when she witnesses a shipwreck in progress, she makes an on the spot decision which changes her life.  She rescues a sailor.

This is a really well woven story where worlds collide.  It was heartbreaking to read the changes which she subjects herself to, and as she adjusts to her surroundings, what she must sacrifice for the story to come full circle.  She has a dream of what could be, and holds it close.  My favourite character in this was Margrette, the princess who risks everything for her kingdom in the hope of evoking peace, whilst also hoping to be a salvation to her father who has become addicted to war since his wife died.

A thoroughly enjoyable and enchanting tale which I'm really glad I picked up.

I love the original Hans Christian Andersen, so this should be a great read. The cover is just beautiful too.
